Super Saturday at Saglimbeni’s! April 28th 2012
Make plans to join us for two fantastic events at our store this Saturday. Martino Manetti, owner and manager of Montevertine Estate in the heart of Chianti, will be joining us in the store from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. The Montevertine wines rely on a strict reliance on the sangiovese grape and the usage of indigenous varietals which makes their wines a rare example of a true Chianti Classico without the appellation. He will be presenting the three wines that make up the Montevertine portfolio, Pian del Ciampolo, Montevertine and Le Pergole Torte. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet with Martino, sample and purchase his exceptional wines. Our free tasting bars open at 11:00.

In addition, we will be hosting our first ever FIESTA FAJITA COOKOUT! The fun begins at 11:30 – we will have the grill fired up in the parking lot serving fresh, hot fajitas!
There will be no charge for the fajitas but we will be taking cash donations for the “Silver and Black Give Back”. Formally known as the Spurs Foundation, Silver and Black Give Back serves as a fund raising conduit for youth sports and education based programs throughout San Antonio and South Texas. We also have an autographed 2012 season Spurs Basketball as well as a signed DeJuan Blair Jersey (generously donated by the Silver and Black Give Back) which we will be selling raffle tickets for through Saturday. Come and join the fun! VIVA FIESTA!

Special Event
Martino Manetti, owner and manager of the very prestigious Montevertine estate will be our guest here at the store from 1:00 until 5:00 on April 28th, 2012. The estate is located in the heart of the Chianti district about halfway between Florence and Siena. The wines of Montevertine rely on a strict reliance on the sangiovese varietal with just a small complement of colorino and canaiolo incorporated into their blend. It was this stance as well as the refusal to incorporate trebbiano into the Montevertine blend that led the estate to leave the Chianti Classico consortium, choosing instead to label its wines as Rosso di Toscano. Their usage of indigenous varietals rather than using non-native varietals such as cabernet sauvignon, syrah or merlot rules out their inclusion in the super-Tuscan group of wines but rather makes Montevertine a rare example of a true Chianti Classico without the appellation. He will be presenting for your tasting pleasure the three wines that make up the Montevertine portfolio, Pian del Ciampolo, Montevertine and Le Pergole Torte.
And, If That Wasn’t Enough!!
Saglimbeni’s will be holding it’s first ever Fiesta Fajita Cookout on the same Saturday. Just like our Sausage and Peppers Cookout, there will be no charge for the fajitas but we will be taking cash donations for the Silver and Black Gives Back. Formerly known as the Spurs Foundation, Silver and Black Gives Back serves as a fund raising conduit for youth sports and education based programs throughout San Antonio and South Texas. We will begin serving at 11:30 and serve until 4:30 or until we run out of fajitas. Viva Fiesta!
